Is your tap water hard water? Is your shampoo stripping away the moisture from your hair? There are a lot of factors that prevents a person from having lustrous and effulgent hair, but these two factors contribute to dryness, hair loss and hair damage to a large extent. Hard water often leads to hair damage since it constitutes a high mineral content with huge amounts of calcium, magnesium and copper contributing to its poor quality. The quality of water also differs from region to region. If one resides in a region with high stores of hard water that has high mineral content, it will dry one’s hair out completely, eventually leading to hair damage. The reason behind such a damage is that the hair gets coated with mineral deposits contained in the hard water, thereby hampering the hair to breath. On the other hand sulphate shampoos which are designed specially to remove oil and dirt from the hair, also strip off the moisture from the hair. Frequent usage of such shampoos should be limited to once a month to avoid hair dryness.

Now the biggest question is, does your hair look like a wig? Or do you have a bad hair fall every day? If you answered yes to all these questions then you are suffering from frizzy hair. Dry and frizzy hair cause the hair to look dull and dead and it is also sometimes accompanied by dandruff. Here are some of the major factors that cause frizzy and dry hair:

1. Hard Shampoo: Hard shampoo can rob your hair of its protective oils and therefore cause dryness. These contain chemicals instead of moisturizing components that make the hair frizzy, eventually leading to hair damage.

2. Over-Washing: Washing your hair too frequently also strips the natural moisture from the hair leaving them dry and dull. It should not be washed more than thrice a week so that the moisture can be retained.

3. Too much exposure to sun, wind and dry air: Excess of sun exposure and extremely cold air causes frizzy hair. The hair can be protected from such extreme weathers conditions by making use of hats, headgear’s, bandannas etc.

4. Dyes, Perms and Relaxers: These products make the hair brittle and tend to dry them out. Therefore silicon products should be used instead, as these are considered excellent at taming the frizzies.

5. Overuse of the blow dry: To much blow drying causes the hair to shrink and become excessively dry.

6. Heated Hair Straighteners and Curling Irons: Apart from the ultra violet rays of the sun, heat damage comes from many other sources such as curling irons and hair straighteners. In order to avoid drying out of hair, such constant exposure to heat should be minimized by replacing such products with traditional sponge rollers.

7. High mineral content in water supplies: Hard water leaves mineral deposits on the scalp causing breakage and dryness. Pure water has PH value of 7 and hence it can be tested before using.

To sum up, you can now win the battle against frizzy and dry hair simply by keeping these things in mind and regain the moisture and radiance back to your hair. Adding a few drops of IDRIS IBN Argan oil can also treat frizzy hair since it provides nutrients to your hair and makes them healthy and strong.
